Time is passing quickly and Christmas feels so long ago, but a sweet memory keeps popping up from the holiday celebrations on the Ice. This is a story that hopefully sheds a little light on what happens in remote places during the holidays and how it’s times like these that weave a few more stitches […]
Things are busy these days but I don’t want to neglect posting a bit about my trip to the South Pole. I was sent for work but definitely had some time for relaxation and play. The pace is much slower and it’s a smaller population on station. Shenanigans are still had as noted in the […]

The Observation Tube is a town favorite. Someone on their off hours drilled the hole in the ice and put this thing in for all of the town to enjoy. It’s a pretty cool thing to sit under the ice and look around at the ocean. Usually there’s not a ton to see, but maybe […]

Last week there was a lottery to take a trip to Cape Evans, not far from McMurdo where Antarctic explorer, Robert Scott had a camp. Scott, in case you don’t recall your Antarctic history, was the runner up for reaching for the South Pole first in the early 1900’s. Then he and his team did […]
